The new “Golden Visa” program introduced by Hungary for 2024 offers three investment options,
which upon detailed examination are as follows:
€250,000
Real Estate Fund Investment:
This option allows investors to invest in real estate funds registered by the Hungarian National Bank. The minimum investment amount is €250,000. This is an appealing choice for those who want to invest in the real estate market without directly purchasing property.
€500,000
Real Estate Purchase:
This option involves purchasing residential real estate properties in Hungary worth at least €500,000. The properties should be free of liens and claims. This direct investment in real estate provides ownership and utilization of properties.
€1 Million
Public Trust Donation:
This option entails a minimum €1 million cash donation aimed at supporting educational, scientific research, or artistic activities. The donation is to be made to a public interest asset management foundation maintaining a higher education institution, contributing to the support of Hungary’s educational and research infrastructure.
These investment options not only contribute to Hungary’s economic development but also support local communities and institutions. Additional benefits of the program include family eligibility, immediate family reunification, access to Hungarian education and healthcare, and visa-free travel within the Schengen Area. There is no minimum stay requirement in Hungary, except for a visit to submit biometric data and collect residency cards.
This program is particularly attractive for those seeking to diversify their portfolio and establish a European Union base for themselves and their family. The dynamic Hungarian real estate market and Budapest’s popularity in the tech and startup community make it an appealing option. The city offers excellent flight connectivity and a cost of living that can be significantly lower than in Western European countries.
